NemID

The NemID system shall be used for all online transactions and services provided by the government and private institutions in Denmark. Citizens are required to obtain a NemID upon reaching the age of 15 or upon becoming a resident of Denmark. The NemID shall consist of a personal identification number and a one-time password. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in denial of access to online services.

The NemID system shall ensure the security and confidentiality of personal data and online transactions. The system shall comply with the requirements of the Danish Data Protection Act and the EU General Data Protection Regulation. The government and private institutions shall be responsible for the security and maintenance of the NemID system. Any breach of security shall be reported to the relevant authorities.

Citizens shall be responsible for keeping their NemID personal identification number and one-time password confidential. They shall not disclose their NemID credentials to anyone, and they shall report any loss or theft of their NemID credentials to the relevant authorities. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in liability for any unauthorized transactions or activities.

The government and private institutions shall provide citizens with information and assistance on the use of NemID. They shall ensure that citizens are aware of the benefits and risks associated with the use of NemID, and they shall provide training and support to citizens who need it. The government shall also establish a complaints procedure for citizens who experience problems with NemID.

The use of NemID shall be monitored and evaluated regularly to ensure its effectiveness and security. The government shall conduct audits and reviews of the NemID system to identify any weaknesses or vulnerabilities, and it shall take corrective action to address any issues that are found. The results of these audits and reviews shall be made public.
