Common Questions
Is this legal? ▼
Yes. We only access public group data — the same information visible to anyone who visits the group link. Telegram explicitly allows this through their official MTProto API. WhatsApp data comes from their public invite preview page only. We never access private messages, private member lists, or any encrypted data.
Why does Telegram analysis require an API key? ▼
Telegram's MTProto API requires authentication to prevent abuse. You register a free app at my.telegram.org (2 minutes) and get a permanent api_id and api_hash. These credentials are free forever with no usage limits for this kind of read-only analysis.
Why is WhatsApp analysis limited? ▼
WhatsApp has no public API for groups. Their invite preview page (what you see when you visit a chat.whatsapp.com/... link in a browser) shows the group name, description, member count, and photo. That's all we can access — and that's all any tool can legally access.
What does the spam score measure? ▼
We scan the group name, description, and recent messages for 30+ known scam patterns: cryptocurrency investment schemes, guaranteed profit claims, airdrop/giveaway scams, seed phrase requests, MLM recruitment, and phishing keywords. Each match increases the score. 0–20% is low risk, 20–50% warrants caution, 50%+ is high risk.
How is the bot ratio calculated? ▼
We fetch up to 500 recent messages, collect unique sender IDs, then check each sender against Telegram's user data to see if the account is flagged as a bot. The ratio is bots ÷ total unique senders × 100. Note: very sophisticated bots may not be flagged.
