Treaty of Hadiach

The Treaty of Hadiach was a 1658 agreement between the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and the Cossacks of Ukraine, establishing Ukraine as a protectorate of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth with the Cossacks holding significant autonomy. This treaty aimed to strengthen the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth's control over Ukraine while granting the Cossacks certain rights and privileges. It was a significant attempt to stabilize the region and counter the influence of the Russian Empire.
