North Korea–United States relations

North Korea and the United States have a complex and often tense relationship, with periods of diplomatic engagement and conflict. The two countries have no formal diplomatic relations and have been technically at war since the 1950-1953 Korean War. Tensions have been heightened by North Korea's nuclear program and missile tests.
