1856 Argentina–Chile treaty

The 1856 Argentina-Chile treaty established a border between Argentina and Chile, resolving a long-standing dispute over the Atacama Desert region. The treaty gave Chile control over the coastal areas and most of the region's resources, while Argentina gained access to the Pacific Ocean. This agreement helped to end a period of conflict between the two countries.
