Ghana Federation of the Disabled

The Ghana Federation of the Disabled shall be a body corporate with perpetual succession and a common seal, and may sue and be sued in its corporate name. The Federation shall have the capacity to acquire and hold movable and immovable property, and to dispose of the same. The Federation shall be governed by a Council, which shall be responsible for the management and administration of the Federation. The Council shall consist of not less than seven and not more than fifteen members, who shall be elected by the members of the Federation.

The objects of the Federation shall be to promote the welfare and well-being of persons with disabilities in Ghana, and to advocate for their rights and interests. The Federation shall also provide a platform for persons with disabilities to express their views and concerns, and to participate in the decision-making process. The Federation shall work in collaboration with other organizations and stakeholders to achieve its objects. The Federation shall be non-partisan and non-sectarian in its operations.

The Federation shall have the power to establish committees and sub-committees as may be necessary for the effective discharge of its functions. The committees and sub-committees shall be composed of members of the Federation, and shall be responsible for such matters as may be assigned to them by the Council. The Federation shall also have the power to co-opt persons who are not members of the Federation to serve on its committees and sub-committees. The Federation shall have the power to make regulations for the conduct of its meetings and business.

The Federation shall be funded from such sources as may be approved by the Council, including membership fees, donations, grants, and other lawful sources. The Federation shall keep proper accounts and records of its finances, and shall prepare and submit annual reports and audited accounts to its members. The Federation shall also comply with all relevant laws and regulations relating to its finances and operations. The Federation shall have the power to invest its funds in such manner as may be approved by the Council.

The Federation shall have the power to affiliate with other organizations, both local and international, which have similar objects and goals. The Federation shall also have the power to participate in international conferences and meetings, and to collaborate with other organizations in the promotion of the rights and interests of persons with disabilities. The Federation shall comply with all relevant laws and regulations relating to its international activities. The Federation shall have the power to enter into agreements and memoranda of understanding with other organizations.
