Treaty of Bardo

The Treaty of Bardo is a treaty between France and Tunisia, signed on May 12, 1881, which established French protectorate over Tunisia, giving France control over the country's foreign affairs and defense. This treaty marked the beginning of French colonial rule in Tunisia. It was later ratified by the French government on June 8, 1881.
