Family and Medical Leave Act

The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) allows eligible employees in the US to take up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave for certain family and medical reasons, such as caring for a newborn or a seriously ill family member, without losing their job or health insurance benefits. This leave can be used for various reasons, including the employee's own serious health condition. The employer must continue the employee's health insurance coverage during the leave period.
