Treaty of Rarotonga

The Treaty of Rarotonga is a regional agreement signed in 1985 by 12 Pacific Island nations, including New Zealand, to prohibit the testing, use, and storage of nuclear explosive devices in the South Pacific region. The treaty aims to protect the region from the risks and consequences of nuclear activities. It also establishes a South Pacific Nuclear Free Zone.
