National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)

The National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) sets a national policy for the environment and requires federal agencies in the United States to consider the potential environmental effects of their actions before making decisions. This includes assessing the impact of proposed projects and policies on the environment. The law also established the Council on Environmental Quality to oversee and coordinate environmental policy.
