Indus Waters Treaty

The Indus Waters Treaty is a water-distribution treaty between India and Pakistan that allocates the use of the Indus River and its tributaries, with India allowed to use the eastern rivers and Pakistan allowed to use the western rivers. The treaty was signed in 1960 to resolve a long-standing dispute over water rights and has been a cornerstone of Indo-Pakistani relations ever since. It aims to ensure the equitable sharing of the Indus River's waters between the two countries.
