Angola–Cuba relations

Angola and Cuba have a long-standing close relationship, with Cuba providing significant military and economic support to Angola during its civil war in the 1970s and 1980s. This support helped Angola gain independence from Portugal and ultimately led to the defeat of the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) rebel group. Today, the two countries maintain strong diplomatic ties and cooperate on various regional and international issues.
