The Buganda Agreement, 1955

The Buganda Agreement of 1955 was a treaty between the British colonial government and the Kingdom of Buganda in Uganda, which established the relationship between Buganda and the central government of Uganda. The agreement recognized Buganda's autonomy and traditional institutions, but also limited its powers and integrated it into the Ugandan state. It was a significant step towards Uganda's independence from British colonial rule.
