Iran–Kuwait relations

Iran and Kuwait have a complex history of bilateral relations, with periods of cooperation and tension. The two countries have a 1963 border agreement and have maintained diplomatic relations since 1961, but have also had disputes over issues such as maritime borders and trade. Kuwait has historically been wary of Iran's regional influence and has sought to balance its relations with Iran with its ties to other Gulf states and the international community.
