Hungarian Constitution of 1949

The Hungarian Constitution of 1949, also known as the 1949 Constitution of the Hungarian People's Republic, was the former constitution of Hungary that established a socialist state and defined the country's government and laws. It was adopted in 1949 and remained in effect until 1989, when it was replaced by a new constitution. The 1949 Constitution was based on Marxist-Leninist principles and gave significant power to the Communist Party.
