Colombia shares borders with five countries: Panama to the northwest, Venezuela and Brazil to the east, Ecuador and Peru to the south, and the Pacific Ocean to the west. The country's borders are a result of historical treaties and agreements, including the 1822 Treaty of Friendship, Commerce, and Navigation with the United States. Colombia's border with Venezuela is the longest, spanning over 2,200 kilometers.
