Greece and Iran have established diplomatic relations since 1929, with the two countries cooperating on various international issues, including trade, energy, and security. Greece has maintained a significant presence in the Middle East, particularly in Iraq and Syria, where Iran has also been involved. The two countries have also collaborated on regional and global issues, such as the Iran nuclear deal.
