Tiger Woods has accepted a plea deal over a car crash in Florida, receiving a five-year driving ban and a fine after pleading to a lesser charge of reckless driving.

The incident occurred in February 2021 when Woods was seriously injured after his SUV crossed a median and rolled over in Los Angeles County. Investigators later determined he was driving at nearly twice the speed limit in a 45mph zone, though no alcohol or drugs were found in his system. Woods, who suffered severe leg injuries, has not played competitive golf since the crash.

Under the plea agreement, Woods will avoid jail time but must pay a $250 fine and complete a diver education course. The five-year probation period includes a driving ban, though he may apply for a restricted license after the first year. His legal team stated he took full responsibility for the crash, calling it a "tragic accident" with lasting consequences.

The resolution closes a high-profile case that drew attention to the risks of speeding, even for experienced drivers. Woods, a 15-time major champion, has previously spoken about the long road to recovery, both physically and mentally. His return to professional golf remains uncertain, but the plea deal allows him to focus on rehabilitation without further legal distractions.
